Air Force picks Teets

Peter Teets, former president and chief operating officer of Lockheed Martin Corp. of Bethesda, Md., has assumed the post of undersecretary of the Air Force.

Peter Teets, former president and chief operating officer of Lockheed Martin Corp. of Bethesda, Md., has assumed the post of undersecretary of the Air Force.

As undersecretary of the Air Force, Teets serves as the Department of Defense executive agent for space and director of the National Reconnaissance Office. He has authority over all Defense Department and NRO space programs, is the Air Force acquisition executive for space, and oversees and directs the national security space architect.

Teets has worked in engineering and management positions in industry since 1963. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in applied mathematics at the University of Colorado, and earned a master's degree in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Teets was sworn in Dec. 13.
