TRW Inc. hired former Boeing Co. executive George Roman as the company's new executive vice president for Washington operations, succeeding Philip Odeen, who will retire Jan. 1 from the Cleveland-based company.

Roman's primary responsibility will be to change and expand the focus of TRW's Washington operations and to support the company's businesses, develop new market opportunities and implement its strategies, according to TRW. Roman will be the company's primary contact with senior White House, Congress, federal agency and industry leaders.

Most recently, Roman served as vice president and general manager of business development for Boeing's military aircraft and missile systems business.

Odeen joined TRW with the 1997 acquisition of BDM International Inc. of McLean, Va. For the past two years, Odeen has been TRW's senior representative in Washington. Odeen will continue work with TRW as a consultant and will maintain an office in TRW's Washington headquarters.
