Motorola Wins $4.5 Million Public Safety Communications Contract

Motorola Wins $4.5 Million Public Safety Communications Contract

Motorola Inc. of Schaumburg, Ill., has won a $4.5 million contract to provide Boca Raton, Fla., with a mixed-mode, trunked communications system.

Boca Raton purchased the digital and analog system as part of a shared system with the South Palm Beach County Communications Cooperative, said Motorola in a Feb. 8 announcement.

The new communications system will be part of a shared system that will provide vital communications interoperability among the cities of Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach and Palm Beach County, Fla.

The system will allow public-safety personnel in Boca Raton to communicate directly with neighboring city and Palm Beach County agencies, including the sheriff's offices and fire and rescue departments, said city officials.

Boca Raton's new single-site, 10-channel communications system uses a four-position Motorola console housed at the city's new Police Fire Communications Center.
Boca Raton has a population of 68,000 and is the second largest city in Palm Beach County.
