SAIC Team to Devise Mobil's Year 2000 Solution: Science Applications International Corp., McLean, Va., has won a contract from Mobil Corp., Fairfax, Va., to work on the year 2000 conversion problem. The companies did not disclose the value of the contract.


The seven-month contract calls for the team to develop a detailed plan for the conversion of all Mobil's computer systems and its global technical infrastructure. SAIC is the program manager. Keane will provide project management and year 2000 technical resources by employing its Resolve 2000 methodology. Avatar will provide tools and subject matter experts. Comsys will also contribute technical resources.

SHL Systemhouse Wins Public Safety Contract: SHL Systemhouse of Ottawa, Canada, the integration arm of MCI Communications Corp., will build and operate North America's first private Enhanced 911 System. The County Council of Northampton, Pa., awarded SHL the $42.8 million contract to develop the emergency dispatch system and maintain it for 10 years. SHL will employ and manage all staff members for the new system. In addition, SHL is installing the world's largest public safety 911 communications system for New York City.

DynCorp Joins AT&ampT Team: DynCorp has captured a slice of AT&ampT's work on a Department of Defense project known as the Defense Research and Engineering Network Inter-site Services Contract. Other subcontractors to AT&ampT on the $430 million, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract are Computer Sciences Corp., El Segundo, Calif., Nichols Research, Vienna, Va., and E-Systems, Falls Church, Va. Reston, Va.-based DynCorp will provide network engineering support, site integration analysis and broad technical support.

BDM Provides Test and Evaluation Services: BDM International Inc., McLean, Va., has received a contract from the Department of Defense potentially worth $151 million over five years to assist all the services. BDM and its team of subcontractors will provide a broad range of test and evaluation services to the Joint Interoperability Test Command in Fort Huachua, Ariz., an Army installation.
