The Defense Information Systems Agency needs engineering and technical support services for the Nuclear Command, Control and Communications System.In addition to systems engineering, the vendor will provide systems, vulnerability, program, budget and technical analysis for the Nuclear C3 System. The system connects the president and the secretary of defense through the National Military Command System to forces managing nuclear weapons.The vendor must have a secret-level security clearance. The work will be done at a facility in Falls Church, Va. Responses are due by Oct. 10. Contact Akefeh Lambert at lamberta@ncr.disa.mil.The Homeland Security Department wants technology solutions that can detect liquid explosives at airports and other mass transit facilities.The department's new Home Made Explosives Detection Systems Development Program will be looking at commercial systems as well as innovative technologies in material and computer science, chemistry, physics and electrical, mechanical and systems engineering.The department's Science and Technology Directorate expects to issue multiple awards. It encourages proposals from small companies and academic institutions with innovative technologies or advanced analysis algorithms that can be hosted on commercial systems.Responses are due by Oct. 20. Contact Douglas Roark at douglas.roark@dhs.gov.The Social Security Administration needs information on processing third-party bulk claims data as part of its effort to explore new ways for people to file applications for federal retirement and disability benefits.The agency is considering a Web service or other electronic means to collect bulk data from third parties that want to help people file for benefits.Potential third-party providers should supply information on automated ways to get large volumes of data into the agency's legacy systems.Responses are due by Oct. 31.
